Privacy
Last updated: May 2026
Checkpoint is in open beta. This page describes how we handle your data today. We will update it before charging anyone money or before launching on the App Store, and we will email you if anything material changes.
What we store
Your email, your Japanese review history (which cards you have answered and how you rated each one), your settings, and the device kind you signed in from. We do not collect your contacts, your location, or any data we do not need to make spaced repetition work.
Where it lives
Your data is stored in Supabase (US region). Crash reports and product analytics go to Sentry and PostHog respectively. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
Voice + tutor features
When you use the AI voice tutor, your audio is sent to OpenAI (Whisper transcription) and a language model to grade your answer. Conversations are not used to train models and are deleted from our servers after the session ends. We retain a transcript so you can review your own history.
Deletion
Email hello@checkpoint.study with the subject “Delete my account” and we will remove your data within seven days. We will respond to confirm.
Children
Checkpoint is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will remove the account.
